Job Description

A Pediatric Phlebotomist performs patient/guardian ID and consent, prepares the child and environment, selects appropriate devices and sites (heel, finger, antecubital), follows order of draw, collects and labels specimens, maintains infection control, monitors for adverse reactions, documents accurately, and communicates empathetically with families.

Qualifications (choose one)
  • Graduate of a phlebotomy or allied health training program; or
  • Trained on the job by an accredited hospital/clinic laboratory; or
  • Experience: 3 months verifiable pediatric blood collection experience.

All candidates must meet age, ID, and conduct requirements per the NHWCA Candidate Handbook. State/local permissions may apply for specimen collection responsibilities.
